I was approached by a couple, who love their animals and had recently extensively renovated their home. The bones of the house were excellent, and they needed help completing the interior, which did not keep up with the structure of the house and its commanding view of Table Mountain.

I decided to be informed by the exteriors when it came to the sitting room. The lounge suite was kept, and two bleached wooden chairs were added. The cushions reflect the mountain colours and clear skies. Large coir mats were added to define the seating and dining areas, and the look was updated with chrome and bleached wooden server, hurricane lamps and foliage.

In the tv room, which has no view and is primarily an intimate evening room, I employed a palette of dark grey, vibrant burnt orange and gold. The result was a spectacular change, and the rather pedestrian room become a glamorous, spectacular space.

In the rest of the house, small changes were made, a study added for the husband who now works from home and needs his own space, and the wife’s space was made more glamorous with plants and a cane chair.

The couple were delighted, and it is my wish that they can now endorse and own this beautiful space themselves.
